Help reshape the future of remote identity verification; ensuring equity and eliminating biases in facial matching technology 🖥️
I participated in a study that I’d like to share with you:
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is looking for participants for a short study that will help government technology and websites work better for all communities. Their research hopes to improve the way that they verify people’s identities remotely by testing for bias in facial matching technology and other methods used for identity verification. Results from this study will allow them to ensure that all people, regardless of physical attributes, can access services from their government.
This study took me around 15 minutes, but states that it can be around 45 minutes or less. This study also requires some personal information (such as a picture of your ID, selfie, social security number, etc.) and can be completed on your smartphone. A $25.00 gift certificate for a brand of your choosing is available for those who are eligible to participate.
If you’d like to participate in this study, you may click here to join. If you’re unsure and would like to learn more, head to identityequitystudy.gsa.gov. Here’s a snapshot of how your data will be used
“GSA is committed to combating bias and improving outreach practices, user testing, and user experience for underserved communities in civic tech design. We need your help to make this happen.”
