Advance your career in tech by contributing to the open-source community👩🏽💻
CodeSee is making it easier for all developers to participate in open-source projects through OSS Port ⚓️
All developers aboard the OSS Port!🚢
The open-source community is full of opportunities for developers. They can access and share knowledge, and connect with others seeking to do the same. But onboarding to OSS projects requires an understanding of new code, and modern codebases can be challenging to navigate—even for the most experienced devs!
CodeSee is committed to helping all developers participate in open-source projects with greater confidence and ease. We’re making this possible in part with OSS Port—an open source community connecting projects to people, with tools to help developers overcome the barriers to taking on codebases.
On Port, project maintainers can tag their projects with topics like ‘Education’ and ‘Social Good’, so contributors can search, select, and quickly onboard to the projects that matter most to them. And Port allows maintainers to provide contribution best practices, support guidance, and interactive visual walkthroughs of their codebase using CodeSee Maps.
CodeSee launched OSS Port just in time for Hacktoberfest, and you know what that means: Sweet swag! For those who contribute to or maintain a project in Port in October, there are rewards like stickers, t-shirts, and sweatshirts (oh my).
Interested in listing a project in OSS Port?
It's super easy to get started and should only take about 10 minutes! Plus, we’ve placed some additional resources below.
Step 1: Visit oss-port.com and click “List Your Project.” You can also check out our instructions on GitHub. Feel free to use a Codespace for 1-click setup of a dev environment.
Step 2: Create a CodeSee Map to easily onboard contributors to your project. If helpful, you can book a 15-minute pairing session with Team CodeSee to walk you through it!
